Christmas lofi for studying
December is exam season for a lot of people. This is how to use a Christmas-flavoured station for studying without it turning into a distraction.
Start with the right station
Study by the Tree is built for this: 17 tracks, 48 min in one pass, picked for calm, steady lofi. There are no lyrics on any track here, which is the part that matters most for reading and writing.
A focus block in tracks
The tracks on this station average 2:50, so a 25-minute focus block is about 9 tracks. You can use the music as a soft clock: when you hear the 9th song end, take your 5 minutes.
| Session | About how many tracks | Try |
|---|---|---|
| 25-minute focus block | 9 | Study by the Tree |
| 1 hour | 23 | 1 Hour Christmas Lofi Playlist |
| 2 hours | 43 | 2 Hour Christmas Lofi Playlist |
| 3 hours | 64 | 3 Hour Christmas Lofi Playlist |
Tips
- Keep the volume low. You should be able to forget it is on.
- Avoid skipping. Pressing Next keeps pulling your attention away. Let the station run.
- Use the sleep timer for a hard stop. It fades the music out after 15 to 90 minutes, so a late-night session ends on time.
- Try it, then decide. Research on music and studying is mixed: many people find music without lyrics less distracting than songs with words, but it depends on the person and the task. Hard new material can be easier in silence. Test it on a low-stakes session first.
What if I want it even calmer?
Switch on the Ambience button in the player bar and add a gentle rain or fireplace layer. It is generated in your browser, sits under the music and has its own volume.
