Christmas lofi for sleeping
Christmas Eve is a hard night to sleep. This is a gentle setup for it, or for any winter night: slow instrumental music, a timer that fades it out, and an optional layer of rain or fire sound.
The quick setup
- 1
Tune in
Open Sleep Before Santa: 15 slow, soft tracks, 47 min before it reshuffles.
- 2
Set the sleep timer
The Sleep button in the player bar offers 15 to 90 minutes, or “after this song”. The volume fades out over the last 20 seconds.
- 3
Add ambience (optional)
Under Ambience you can switch on rain, snow wind or a fireplace crackle. It is generated by your browser and mixes under the music. When the timer ends it stops the ambience too.
If you want it to run all night
The 8 Hour Christmas Sleep Music is 8 h long. It uses only the calmer half of the library, so it does repeat: about 44 different tracks, played in 4 passes and reshuffled every time, so the order is never the same twice. For sleep, repetition is usually fine, and it is honest to say so.
Tips for a calmer night
- Keep the volume low enough that you can only just hear it.
- Put the phone or speaker on the other side of the room, and turn the screen brightness down.
- Use the timer on nights when you don’t want music playing at 3 am.
- If you share a room, a small speaker is kinder than headphones in bed.
No promises. Calm music is something many people find relaxing at bedtime, but this isn’t a sleep treatment, and it will not work for everyone. If sleep is a real problem, talk to a health professional.
Questions
How long is the sleep mix?
The 8 hour Christmas sleep mix runs 8 h and repeats its 44 calm tracks in reshuffled passes.
Does the music stop by itself?
Yes, if you set the sleep timer (15 to 90 minutes, or after the current song). It fades out gently and also turns off any ambient layers.
Is the ambient sound a recording?
No. Fireplace, wind and rain are synthesised in your browser from noise. There are no extra audio files, and they stay off until you switch them on.
